It sure is and is 1988 model. The motor was tuned by Jez Lloyd many years ago and still produces 113 BHP at the rear wheel!

Very nice. They never really made it to Canada. I think I've only seen one ever here and pretty sure it was gray market. I've been trying to get my hands on a NC35 but sadly, my wife is mean and made me promise not to ride bikes again until my son is in college.

Amazing bike. I remember the first time I saw one, it was 1989, in San Diego, before they were even supposed to be in the USA. I was with my father driving down the road in our car and he blurted out "holy shit, that's an RC-30", as a guy rode past us. Mind you, this is a man who was not prone to obscenities, but motorcycles were his passion (and business) and he just couldn't contain himself. I was blown away by this motorcycle, as I was by another homologation bike, the Yamaha R7 (ridden by Noriyuki Haga... any connection to your username @haga888 ?)

edit: sorry for the thread hijack

Yup, my favourite pilot of all time. The first (and arguably only) Japanese rider with a personality. Win it, or bin it (which unfortunately never translated into championships). They don't make maniacs like that anymore.

The R7 to me, even to this day, is one of the most beautiful bikes ever created. I've seen a couple on eBay but haven't had the stones to figure out how to get it into Canada. None in this country that I know of.

Sorry for the continued thread jack.

Hah - I knew it. Nitro Nori is absolutely my all time favorite as well - for pretty much the same reasons. I loved his attitude, fearlessness, his sense of honor on the track while at the same time riding as hard as anyone. Great guy. I've had the distinct pleasure to ride an R7... and OMFG what a machine. Way too finicky to own as I really prefer to ride my motorcycles and not spend all my time wrenching on them (despite what you may think looking at my youtube channel and my R1 engine rebuild series, search for Supermotojohn if interested).

Just throw on some ice tires and you'll be good to go.

do the R7's over there have that awful restricted ECU/Loom arrangement to restrict the power?

More than likely. But something with 0 kms on it, that I'd consider a collector's item, I couldn't bring myself to ride it. It would have to be a showroom piece as boring as that sounds.

    Always loved that bike!
Only one after that for me is the VFR750 RC36, even though its only got half the good looks or spirit...
