Would like to try some speakers made from this stuff. Sounds promising if it’s not too difficult to work with.

Wow indeed Elon could make his rockets out of this stuff, maybe they wouldn't explode as much! 😁

But seriously apart from making superior speaker enclosures you probably could more easily and cheaply make off Earth habitation and industrial facilities at a fraction of the cost from a materials perspective let alone the weight savings in lifting this stuff into orbit.

Some quick updates:

First impressions were very good. Sound is really natural/convincing, vocals are exceptional. Has adequate bass levels even with flat EQ profile. There's some boomyness in the 50-70hz-ish range, but that depends on where you're positioned in the room, kind of like hot spots near some corners. Bass extension is more than enough for us and we won't need a subwoofer for this space. The output levels in general are actually much higher than expected and more than we'd ever need.

Some room treatment is definitely required since there's too many flat solid surfaces bouncing stuff around. There's a concrete support pillar right behind the couch that's facing the right speaker too.

Wow, you did a great job on those. And they give off some serious KEF vibes.

Thanks, I'm happy with how it all turned out (and sounds). Wife was impressed too. Once we ditch the Ikea cabinets and do something nicer, I think it'll all look quite good together.

I don't listen to much metal at all (my 10 y/o son likes it!), but was surprised how decent it sounded too. Very "big" and lively, dynamic. Good instrument separation even for such loud music. Wideband drivers aren't supposed to excel at these musical styles, at least according to some internet opinions.

Internet opinions are like arseholes the world is full of them.
What matters is that it sounds good and looks fit to the task cosmetically.
Some of the best sounding speaker boxes I have heard only have one driver, all down to the speaker quality and enclosure design.

Those looks deserve a big 👍

Beautiful…nice job! given that the Pearl MK1 price has ballooned to almost 10 grand due to tariffs, projects like yours are a great option. The Pearl cabinet is more complicated but this design seems to work pretty darned well.
