You might see if you could also find a local watch club where you could also learn from the members in Seoul also.

Thanks for the advice but have not found such a thing yet.

Will hit the old watch market close to Jogno4-ga in Seoul and maybe also quickly Hwanghagdong flea market again to do some more field research for Vintage Omega Watches. Got some good insights from my recent disaster 馃榾.

Luckily the seller was honest and refunded you. That was way too expensive for sure for this watch. For 400 usd you should be able to find a 60's or 70's seamaster in decent condition from ebay (but beware of customs) or from the sale section here !

Yeah...Customs is the biggest annoyance and why I do not necessarily want to go that route for now and stay local.
Further field research in Seoul is also a lot of fun - doing it for the thrill and adventure 馃榾.
Just it seems Seoul might be not the best place to find genuine pieces (?).

Indeedy! He said he will just sell to a Chinese or Japanese buyer - but no more FRANKENWATCHES for me or at least not unknowingly(I hope).
It seems to me that Koreans have a different perception of watch selling and what can be tolerated.
Also I noticed they are all about brands and status and people will just buy whatever says "Omega, Rolex, Cartier, you name it".

Will check out the Sales Section here or maybe also other trusted pages.
Any advice is welcome!

Unfortunately I don't know much about the korean watch market so I can't help you on this point. But it seems that you have learned the most valuable lesson (make your due diligence and don't rush into a purchase) without any harm luckily.

Japanese often have a lot of clean vintage seamaster.

Timepeaks.com could be worth a shot from time to time?

Will try and then see - Comes time, comes the purchase!

I am in Seoul 馃槈.
I have checked out NOSTIME before and talked a bit to the owner.
He seems to be a nice & knowledgeable lad.

I have Yonjung Collection in the Meridien Hotel close to Gangnam station on my list too.

Any other advice much appreciated!
