Yeah same way Jesus was of Scandinavia descent.
Hence why people call his name so often while assembling IKEA furniture

I don’t think he’s referring to the policies, more the general charisma and ability to inspire supporters. AOC, Bernie, Obama, even Tim Walz appeared to have that to a far greater extent.
Yeah, I think pretty much any candidate would’ve performed better. Kamala had zero charisma. Fake and forced. She felt more like an aunt at a family reunion who’d had too many glasses of wine than a potential leader of the Western world. She struggled to articulate herself without her professional writers and prepared script, even when faced with basic questions. Word salad and too many dumb anecdotes. Not suitable for the role.

A short campaign, but still one of the most expensive in US election history too. Didn't they spend almost double what the Republican budget was?

I'm beginning to delve into American history a little bit.
One of my nieces got me to watch a show recently.
I'm ashamed to admit that I'd never realised that your founding fathers were all of African-American descent. It was also interesting to learn that everyone conversed through song rather than speech. I'm looking forward to the next episode.
I think you might find that Blazing Saddles was not a documentary?

Edit : mind you that Mungo character has a deep modern day resonance imho.
Edit 2 : on reflection Govenor Lepetomane could have made it to the top! Sex obsessed, can’t operate simple toys…….

Eh? So is it fact or non-fiction?

The more I think about it, the less certain I am. Thanks for bringing it up.👍

I was referring to within state elections which would decide the electoral college votes of said state (barring faithless electors of the EC). The system isn’t perfect, but it’s the best in the world in my opinion...
Wow, thats a strong US centered statement ....
  • Voter turnout in the 2024 U.S. presidential election was about 64% of the eligible population. What are those 35% US nonvoters do?
  • For the 2025 German Bundestag election, voter turnout was around 82.5 percent
=> What about the fact, that only with the support of big money any candidate in any US election seems to have a chance?
Konrad

And thanks to the moderators to let this thread run. For us non US its interesting to read or contribute in such a private space.

In other countries, do citizens demand election process be changed if they don’t like results ? Asking for a friend

Democrats and Kamala operated democrats campaign like federal government. Throw money everywhere, no knowledge on what, no controls, little care of effect. Just spend it! It isn’t our money. Who give a rip.

I can think of one country where the losing candidate demanded the results of an election be disregarded because he didn’t like the result.

I don’t believe you have any friends.

Even worse, he said before the election it was rigged if he lost.

@pdxleaf I think the issue is that Trump has been idiotically blundering about the world for decades succeeding on his own failures. He's been doing it so obviously and for so long that it is 100% what is expected. Standard rules of "good, better" don't really apply.

At least to some degree what happened in 2024 was that Harris got measured against what the perfect Democratic candidate should look like, not against Trump.

I hope that makes sense, even if it is completely unreasonable.

I do not know, what your friend is thinking of, surely none European Unions democracy.
Maybe he refers to Romania, where a far right candidate won at first by massive Russian tictoc intervention, so that the high court had to decide to repeat the election. I agree!

Agent Orange is just an uninteresting puppet. He will not make the full term. Big international Money bribed him in. And wants now the pay off. Which he can not deliver. So, ... All he needs, is on top of the international news circle 24/7/365 X4 . If the whatever you call Media, ignores him, he implodes. And then Vance takes over. Which might be the Master Plan anyway. Great to watch from afar.
Good times.

Very true. Trump is not the problem: he is the symptom of a much more pernicious disease process affecting America. And it can’t be discounted, because he won the popular vote.

And, unlike others, who say one thing, and then do the opposite, Trump has always worn his political intentions right on his sleeve. So, you always knew exactly what you were going to get.

Think about it: if you owned a tech company, and were looking for a new manager, would you hire someone who’s only prior experience was running a dog walking outfit? How do you choose someone to do an incredibly important job who’s patently unqualified to do it?

Two reasons: you’re an idiot; or you’re desperate. Both are very disturbing explanations.

Ironically, the most obvious example of someone complaining about the process because they didn't like the results was the MAGA bunch in 2020.

A bit pathetic, really. Most of the other dictators know enough to rig the elections in advance, like in Venezuela.

The Israel-Gaza war derailed Harris also. A main reason why many people, particularly younger, didn't vote. The stubborn, purist, voter who wants charismatic fuhrers over character also stayed away. Basically, Americans are juvenile.
