...I think @Mad Dog has the solution for this somewhere. It's a strap with a Velcro flap that completely covers the watch.
Affirm, sir...you’re referencing the use of either the Rothco protective band [pictured below] and/or the Raine Inc. protective band. My intention is to protect the entire watch head from heavy scratches in watch foe environments...such as the MD-88/MD-90 flight deck which contains somewhere in the ball park of 443 watch foes. In my humble opinion, the Rothco and the Raine Inc. do a fine job of protecting the watch head from heavy scratches...however, fine scratches [especially on the Hesalite] still occur and that’s OK by me. 👍

Personally, I think the OP has done a fine job regarding his Hesalite protection project...bravo zulu, sir! 👍

In a similar vein, I decided to add a bra to the front end of my BMW to prevent stone dings. The bra looked really nice, though, so I added a bra-bra to keep it pristine. Uh-oh: the bra-bra also looked pretty spiffy, so I searched and found a bra-bra bra to maintain it............

Surprised no one has mentioned dunking the watch in Plasti-Dip -- it makes a great protective covering.

Sorry OP, just piling on a little 😁 The crystals are 'disposable' items like brake pads, tires, and flat screen TVs. Most here do not sweat some marks, but there are definitely some who do lurking in the dark corners, and I suspect your post will help some of them out.

I will not dare post pics of the crystal on my Tintin, as it got another door jamb scuff last week, took a glancing blow from the buckle on a safety harness earlier int he week, and got tagged by a seat belt buckle a day or two ago. Amazingly enough the crystal is all that has been hit; the one small ding in the bezel was put there by the original owner.

If you're that worried about scratches on the Hesalite why not get the Sapphire version?

That is what I did. I like the look of the hesalite, but I am anal as hell about scratches on crystal. Some may like them, and some may tell me that they mostly buff out with polywatch. But those scratches that don’t buff out would just sit there, taunting me, mocking me, brutalizing my daily existence. Anyway, I bought the sapphire version. Have a nice day!

Edit- I should mention that I am OK with nicks and scratches elsewhere on the watch. In fact, I think a speedmaster looks the business after it has been worn diligently. It is just the crystal scratches that bother me, irk me, haunt me, make my eyes hemorrhage! Anyway, I bought the sapphire version. Have a nice day!

You could on the other hand put it in a drawer and not wear it. Less messing about and you could then use the clock on your phone to tell the time....

it’s our way of saying welcome.

It will change the natural clarity of hesalite and it will not look as good with a scratch on the plastic film.
😉 each to there own .

Not at all, we’re just taking the piss. It’s your watch, no one else’s, enjoy it the way you want to.

When you've worn your watch for 50 years and it's now on its 5th crystal due to you smacking it into things, then just a few scratches will seem like good news.

Don't forget to protect the case-back engraving as well. 😲

I remember Dennis sharing about someone who would apply glue to the surface of a watch dial, and it evolved into someone wrapping it in a clear wrap... no clue how to find the old thread or posts...

Ever tried polishing a scratch out of sapphire?
