    Dear all,

Found out that searching watches is easier then finding a wall clock to my likings.

I am currently looking for a nice wall clock but don't really know where to start. Living together with my girlfriend so a flashy Rolex or omega wall clock is not what I am looking for.

As much as I like my watches to be mechanical I think a wall clock with a battery would suit me better.

What are the biggest icons? Could you guys point me in the right direction?

    Thanks in advance!

The Arne Jacobsen "Banker's Watch" is a pretty big icon here in Denmark:

I just spent the morning working on a hundred year old Seth Thomas #17 regulator and I didn't see a single battery. No pictures, its not in the case yet and we're not posting nudes!

I can't wait for Ulackfocus, I gotta say it: Real clocks are not powered by batteries.

batteries suck the soul out of the timepiece.

Never seen that one. I was going to post one of the 3 flavors of the Junghans Max Bill wall clock. Same basic look as that one. I love yours though.

The Swiss Railway Clock is also an icon.

Depending on your decor, the mid-century modern clocks designed by George Nelson might interest you:

I bought one of those for my wife, she didn't think it was nearly as funny as I did..... it moved out with one of the kids.

Yes, sometimes I just gotta be a twit.... its in my contract.

For something a bit more formal, Chelsea does some beautiful marine wall & mantle clocks, they range from new quartz models for a few hundred dollars up to restored antique mechanical "marine lever" movements with ships bell type striking for quite a bit more (arm, leg, left nut)

they've been at it for a while having made tons of stuff for the US navy during both world wars, currently they manufacture new and also buy up old Chelsea clocks and fully redo them so you can actually buy a piece of history restored by the original factory. Huge cool factor pretty enough to please the female of the species.

They're on the web, check them out.

Well, if you're gonna go battery powered, why not just get a HUGE iPhone replica since that's what everyone who DOESN'T wear a watch uses to tell time?

    Clearly vintage; looks like a 2009 3GS. :D

I have a clock by Cupecoy Design on my wall that I bought probably around 2000. It was expensive to me at the time ($50 for a wall clock? Really?) but I adored it the moment I saw it and had to have it.

A few weeks after I bought my first Constellation, I had to laugh when I realized its dial was very similar to that of the wall clock.

I'm a big fan of the schoolhouse clock look. Has the added benefit that it doesnt tick...has a sweep second hand.
I actually have an older GE with the same look, but it plugs in so thats a little annoying...limits placement of the clock.
The IBM one below operates on a C battery.

Check out the Junghans Max Bill wall clocks. Very similar look that might resonate better.
