Hello, I am new to the forum and am looking for some help. I am looking for a vintage Seamaster and a friend recommended Chrono24. I was able to locate a watch available for sale on Chrono24 (a Seamaster 196.007); however, I am a little concerned about working with overseas groups given all the counterfeit material on the market. Would someone be able to provide me some insight and feedback as to the validity of the site and sellers.

    Thank you.

The best thing you can do is post pictures (preferably high-res) of the watch in question. You could also name the seller and find out if someone here has done deals with him, that way you'll have some references to go from. Generally, it's impossible to really say much about the validity of Chrono24 since it's only a site that facilitates contact between sellers and buyers.

What you need to do is find out if you trust the seller in question, not Chrono24.

    Now let's see the watch!

The site is valid as are most of the sellers. Prices tend to be typical European ridiculously high, but some members have negotiated substantial discounts at times.

Watch out for redials and frankenwatches, particularly on Omegas. Vet all potentials very carefully.

Okay, thank you for the replies and insight. Here are pictures of the watch. Seller claims that the watch is in mint condition. I do love the look of the 196.007, but don't want to overpay - price is EUR2175, including shipment to US. Not sure if the photos will show up well enough to be easily viewed. Again, thank you all for your help and advice.

Well, its not mint - thats a certainty. Its been polished, and has a ding above the crown , that they have tried to polish out, but its still there. The dial has some peculiar lume plots - some are square, others round.

Its also a 176.007. Dont worry about the dial there are several differnt versions - again search 176.007 threads and you will see examples - yours only has 3 sides white date surround

If you want to see mint, search a thread caled dogens vintage omegas - an example photo below image.jpg
