Hi,

It is a caliber 30 with an English made 9K gold case. The movement dates back to about 1945. The dial has really lived the war!

Best regards

Did the dog put those scratches on the dial?!😲

If you're in the U.K., contact either Simon Freese as an independent or Swiss Time Services for a watch such as this.

I'd clear coat that dial and source new-ish hands for it. Have it as a keepsake in this condition, certainly unique.

Clearcoat? What,,. And ruin the patina?

pretty good idea actually.

The V hallmark for Birmingham denotes July 1945 to June 1946.

That might just be too far gone to save as a watch. There is a couple of hundred quid in the 9K case and maybe another ton in the movement but the dial is shot. If it is a labour of love then maybe you'll want to fix it up anyway but you'll spend more putting it back in commission than its worth. Similar Dennison 9K watches fetch only £500-600 when completely mint and serviced.

I haven't seen a Montal case UK Omega before, interesting.

Put something transparent over it to stop further degradation of the dial and have a unique piece. Just source a replacement crystal and some hands. I had dogs throughout my life and it's a shame they spend such short time with us, having a caseback "engraved" by one of my pups would make me all warm and fuzzy when wearing.

Oh be aware that the dog has maybe licked the radium lume off the dial, keep an eye on him, hopefully most of it will pass straight through. It's doubtful there will be any long term effect but its not recommended by any means.
