Would need way better pictures than that to help you.

Water damage on the dial at about 4-5 o’clock

Unofrtunatly the website the watch is posted on will not let you download pictures but here are a few more screen shots that may be slightly better. Also seller is asking $2,789 for a watch in obvious need of some work on the dial, is the asking price reasonable?
Thnaks in advance for any help.

Here is a better picture of the dial.
Looks genuine but damaged. There is trace of the accent on the E in geneve and the Swiss below (damaged). Movement, case all look fine. You can request for an archive matching the movement with case no. To Ensure its authenticity but there is nothing here that looks problematic apart from damaged dial.

You can probably find better examples if you just drop it and take a step back to do more research etc. Within a month should be very possible.

I have a few VCs lying around myself, @MikiJ is probably a better expert as he has been hanging around at THL (before it become instagrammed) for much longer than me.

Looks genuine, but I would be inclined to wait for a better example, assuming other than a limited budget.

Thank you for the help, he has it listed for $2,776 i think making a offer of maybe $2,400 should be reasonable.

Yeah i could wait for another to come along but in my investigating could not quite find a similiar piece, it is a original dial but in need of some care, im kind of on the fence about this one.

There are two primary factors to consider: how do you feel about the watch, given its condition, and how concerned are you likely to be (if at all) with resale value.

The former is, of course, entirely subjective. If you are perfectly comfortable with the condition, including the imperfections, and believe that it represents good value, then there is no reason to resist. If, however, you can imagine the possibility that you may want to re-sell it in the not-too-distant future, then it would probably be wise to wait for a better example, and spend more.

While V&C is obviously a highly regarded brand, I would suggest that it is not immune to the bifurcating market that I have mentioned on a number of previous occasions. What I mean is that the really good examples will hold their value much better than those with issues, and this is likely to be magnified by the fallout of broader economic asset deflation that is already unfolding around the world.

You Could get VC to restore the dial.
Probably cost the same as watch if not more but it can be done by vacheron constantin and not a third party.
Someone here had one done and @Archer has mentioned it before IIRC

More of something you would do if inherited ( but letting you know it can be done by VC )

Hello and thank you for the suggestions guys, to tell you honestly if i ended up getting the watch i may look in to a redial at some point, i usually hang on to my watches for quite a while so i dont think resale value would be a big concern for me, the dial is obviously in need of some care but i have seen worse dials though.

I agree with those who say wait for a better example, but I applaud your interest in old gold V&Cs because I think there is no better value in watch collecting. These are on par with Patek Philippe and would probably be prohibitively expensive if Patek didn't exist.

I couldn't live with the damaged dial or a redial that would severely affect its value. Just my 2Cs.

I agree with the last 2 statements by MikiJ and MMMD, i am torn by a somewhat difficult decision everything about the watch i like the movement, the way it looks, the finish the history of the brand itself as for the dial is a whole other issue entirely and if restoration of the dial will be expensive no doubt, makes no financial sense to me to throw more money at the watch, so all that being said i will decline the watch and just wait patiently for another opportunity. Sadly i am slowly coming to realise this just deal was not meant to be. 🙁

Am I missing some connection with UG?
Surely a thread re. V&C is not relevant on this UG forum?

Sorry i was not sure where to post exactly this seemed a little more appropriate place than open discussion.
