The gasket is likely the wrong size. Even after it is corrected, the caseback, crown and crystal are all places where water could enter.

Of course. I'm used to wearing water resistant diver's watches, but just recently got into vintage. I know which is my favorite now.
I will stick around these forums and update you with any new purchases. Thank you for your great help!

Bring it back to your watchmaker, should be very easy to find a gasket that fits without protruding. Not even sure that gasket was used originally anyway.
