So I am offered this very nice looking cal 265 Jumbo - apparently from 1951.
Wondering wether it’s a redial, since it looks so sharp, but I can not determine it. Can you help?

thank you!

This looks fine to me. Why do you think it is a redial? Aged lume, even minute track, and decent font.

I was simply a bit worried because of the price, which is very good. It’s such a beauty so would hate to be fooled.

I don't see any obvious issues with the watch, it looks nice. If the price is too good, maybe it's a scam.

What’s the case reference? That’s possibly why the price is very good.

That’s not specified, but I’ll ask the seller.

Looks like a 2639 to me. Not a true jumbo, but approximately 36mm.

Nicely aged and well kept watch! Better pictures under the sunlight will uncover its beauty.

It’s newly serviced and all original. What price range do you think is fair? I’m close to pulling the trigger on this one. Just rose to around 600 EUR cause seller got another offer. Still fair?

Dont worry about the legitimacy, it looks alright to me as well. I own a 2639 with the same dial layout

Pricing and what is considered fair is always a bit subjective and also dependent on where you live. It seems that the same watches on average go for lower prices in North America than Europe. I passed on the same reference for EUR 600 recently, but yours is much nicer. If you don't pull the trigger, please pass on the opportunity to me 😉

I’ve already made the deal, so I’ll add this one to my collection.

I have the same dial in black.

What does your case back look like?

Saw the movement with the seller, and it was squeaky clean. But the black o-ring looks visible on the case back. Is that normal? Looks wrong to me.

You should not be able to see the gasket. Take it to a watchmaker and have him install the correct gasket.

I don’t think the gasket was lubricated before it was closed. Gasket was in great shape. Might be the lack of lubrication that causes the gasket to not be seated properly or the gasket is the wrong size...

I’ll definitely keep the watch away from water until I can get it to a watchmaker to fit a new one/lubricate it and close it properly.
The case back is screwed tightly on now, though...

Keep it away from water full stop. There are several ways water could enter that.
