Help with some information on an Omega Seamaster watch a friend wants to sell me

Well a bit of an update on my Seamaster. I've had it serviced and cleaned. A new mainspring was installed.
I received a crown from a friend so I paid for the movement work and have decided to keep going.
I'm leaving the case, dial and hands as they are now.
A friend sent me a signed crown that I'm having installed. I also went ahead and had my watchmaker order me a new signed Crystal as well. So those will be installed soon.
I sourced a nice black Omega lizard band with a nice vintage white gold filled buckle.
So it's coming together nicely I'd say. The bumper movement looked very nice all cleaned up. I'm looking quite forward to wearing it soon.

Can't wait to see the serviced and cleaned up piece. I love the 2577. I have one that with the guilloche dial which is nearly mint. They are so fun to wear and the beefy case gives it a clean and modern look.

If you were me would you do a restoration on the dial?

The dial may be able to be cleaned without a restoration per se. It doesn't look too bad as it is and with a new crystal will look better than the first photos.

Keep it as is and research some watchmakers with a specialty in dials.

I would not try to have the dial relumed - it will look restored. The patina of the hands match.

Best regards,
Patrick

look forward to the pictures of the watch refurbished

Well good afternoon everyone.... I got my Omega Seamaster back today. The only thing I couldn't get completed was the proper Crown and a Strap that would fit my Genuine Omega Buckle.
I had a new mainspring put in and had it cleaned and lubed up and it's running awesome. I also had a genuine Omega signed Crystal put on, I'll tell ya ..... Trying to see the Omega in the Crystal is tough!!!! My tired eyes must be getting pretty bad.
I'm thinking about buying a beads of rice band for it or I could just offer it up for sale, I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.
I decided to leave the dial and hands just like I found them ...... Can I get some thoughts on what I should do next? Here are some clearer photos:

A friend was kind enough to send me a crown for free but it doesn't fit the case .... Here it is:

And then I found a half inch buckle, I just need to find the correct strap, i might just buy it complete instead of trying to fit one.

Well there's my Omega 2577 .... I still need to figure out the year model. It looks light years different than it did and it keeps as good of time as any of my Rolex's.

I bought two more Omega straps for it last night. I was able to find a black and a brown one. It'll be nice to play around with the combinations, and my friend Matt ( Giff2577 ) is helping me out with another crown..... Can't ask for a better guy for offering the help.
Great forum and great members we have here!

Wear yours a while and you'll become as attached to it as I am to mine.

Yeah part of its the size difference between my Datejust and my 1680 Red Sub

Well, if size makes a difference, I have a GMT Master II, an Omega Speedmaster Professional, a Speedmaster reduced, a Date-Just, and other good sized watches, along with numerous about the size of my Seamaster date at 6:00. I have a big wrist, and I'm a big guy, so large watches aren't out of proportion. But I don't let the smaller size of this one bother me! Meet with a number of collector brethren, and this is likely the one that gets noticed, if that counts for anything. Watches of this vintage simply weren't as big as much modern stuff.

Thank you for your taking the time to post. I love the watch, I spent good money to get it up to what I think is a lovely condition.
I've bought two more leather straps for it ( I'm just waiting for them to come in )
I think they will make a big difference in and of themselves
I'm also going to mail out the crown that was so kindly given to me by a contributor to this thread, in exchange for what I'm hoping is going to be the correct one. Those little things not being done make a huge difference to me on how likable a piece is to me ...... Why? I'm not sure, but when it's all done I'll likely be singing a different tune.
I wore it all day Saturday and the size is very much something that I can get over, especially given the fact it's a vintage watch ..... Rich Murphy LOVES vintage!
Now with all of that said ..... Would I sell it? Every watch I own (and I own a few, more than my wife cares to count. lol) They all have a price, and that's because I always see watches I like.
It's funny, my 17 month old daughter loves to look at our magazines that we subscribe to, and we send some with her when she goes to her Nana's house, when she sees a Rolex ..... She says " dada, dada, dada " ...... She loves my watches.
I do love this watch .... Like I said, I've spent my money fixing it up ..... Not to sell, but to enjoy ... Would I sell it? Damn right [emoji848][emoji12][emoji4]
