Hi everyone. I purchased this watch today and it arrived from another country to Canada. Full set late 2016 watch and never opened. It has a smudge under the crystal from 12-2 and I am trying to figure out if it is condensation from the journey. Hopefully it will go away. Is this something to be concerned about? I got a good price so I would like to keep it if its not a big deal. Thanks!

    Josh

It is hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like the tension ring finish is corrupted. We need a close up shot.

Seller just found a pic before shipment that shows the smudge. So it's not condensation. It's definitely on the crystal under it.

Does the crystal have a anti reflective coating?.

That may be a delamination of a anti-reflective coating.

Looks like the ARC is damaged on the outside. Should be pretty obvious if you reflect light from the crystal.

Definitely not a fingerprint smudge because of the jagged edges. My first thought was damaged AR coating.

So if the ARC is damaged on the outside is that a warranty fix or would it have been caused by a person? Is this an inexpensive fix or would I need a new crystal? How much is a new crystal for these watches? Thanks for any answers.

AR coating is on both sides, so if it's a defect on the inside it might be a warranty claim, but on the outside I doubt they would cover it.

If it's on the outside, you can either polish the remainder of the coating off to make it look even (many people remove the AR coating as it's easy to do) or get the crystal replaced. The crystal is about $800 US using today's exchange rate...actual cost might be slightly different so you would have to check on that. Of course there may be other costs to this as well...

It's hard to tell from the pics but: Looking at the straight on photo, does it look like the "tachymetre" writing on the bezel is a little worn too? It isn't showing up nearly as clearly as the number writing on the left side of the 12 o'clock position. How does it look in real life @Japenney?

If the bezel writing is worn directly in line with the AR issue, this might be due to some wear post factory. If that's the case, I would send this right back to the seller as I doubt it left the factory in this condition. Or, the diminished bezel clarity is just due to a trick of light and angle. In which case...never mind!

    Hi,
I got some of this smudge on my DSOTM too, and a strap issue. Oh and a warranty card issue too. They gave me the wrong card (I got it from Bienne directly). So when the last issue will be fixed, I'll try to get the two previous ones fixed too. I went to the Omega store in Geneva and they told me the strap might have water damage, which is weird considering the most water the watch has seen was rain and handwashing..
I do not find those issues normal on a 10k watch.
Looking forward to tell you what happens next

That is a ceramic bezel, highly unlikely to be scratched.
I had a bracelet fraying on the lugs on mine which Omega replaced without issue

DSOTM in notorious for outer AR debonding. Omega replaces the chrystal here in germany under a "good will" policy. They don't honor it as warranty claim though.

I've had great results getting even the most minor issues fixed for free at my local Omega Boutique. If there is one near you, take the Speedy in for a look, and bring your warranty card. My guys are watch fanatics and don't want to see any Omega watch with any faults. Hopefully your local OB guys are the same. Worst case is they say no, sorry, nothing we can do for free.
