Help with Omega Sea Master Cosmic

Hi All,

First time posting here. A family member gave me an Omega Seamaster Cosmic that a friend gave to them. It is in semi-working condition, meaning the crown is missing (so no way to set it) but since it is an automatic it will run if you shake it slightly.

Looking for guidance:
-Would love to know how old it is
-Rough value when running, so I don't overpay on repair. No point in paying $600 to get a $300 watch working.
-Any chance this is the original band? I don't think so but don't want to remove and throw away if it is.
-Any suggestions on where to get it fixed, I'm in the Chicago, IL. area but would ship if needed.
-Case back has Omega logo, Sea monster image, text "WATERPROOF" and "166036 - TOOL 107"

no chance the band is original Omega, and with the profound wear to that case I wouldn't put any money into that watch unless it was some sort of family heirloom.

Hey Alan,

Your watch is a reference 166.036 with a caliber 752. I'd wager it's from the late 1960s. The stretch band is not original to the watch. The condition of the dial looks OK and the movement may be OK as well.

However the case is beyond saving and has had an incredibly hard life.

Hello and welcome!

Omega Cosmic was produced from 1967 to early 1970s. Your watch is rough shape. Like really rough, I don't know what happened to the case but damn. So not worth fixing. Dial and movement will have some value as spare parts.

The only thing that will be even halfway worth it here, is to keep an eye on eBay for the same reference with a knackered dial, so you can then combine the ok case with the you movement/dial/hands.
