Hello, just wondering if any one has any experience with these Omega Railroad pocket watches. I have a cccr and the ratchet wheel and barrel arbor has a setup I have never seen. Just wondering if these are threaded together? Or how to separate them? Thanks

The wheel is held onto the hub by three screws. You have removed the screws from the hub. The wheel can now be removed from the hub. The hub stays on the barrel bridge during cleaning.

The ratchet wheel for some reason will not come off and I did not what to force it.

So the way I have it now, it should just lift right up?

The ratchet wheel and hub are quite robust. The wheel will come off if you apply yourself. How about a picture of the whole watch? I have two of the 19-jewel version, the CCR.

This is what I have for now, trying some penetrating oil to maybe get the wheel off, still no luck. Wow in 10 years of watchmaking nothing has got me stuck like this. Just wondering what the previous “watchmaker”did, this watch is full of special treats. Sick right now at home and thought I would work in a long restoration, but this was a surprise.

Any idea about a balance staff, it would save me hours making one.

Pictured is one of my Brandt CCRs (the 19-jewel version of yours). I gave you incorrect information. Sorry! It has been years since I have been into one of these. The three screws hold the top barrel arbor jewel and chaton onto the ratchet wheel. The wheel DOES NOT come off the hub. I checked on the one picture.

As to the balance staff? My usual source is unable to supply staffs for these. My other Brandt CCR needed a balance staff, so I had to fabricate one for it.

Just wondering, if the click spring ever breaks, how would I fix that.

I guess you’ll have to cross that bridge when and if you have to. Because the ratchet wheel is either a/ not removable, or b/ only removable with difficulty, I have no idea what the click spring looks like. By the way, where in Canada are you located? I’m in Calgary.
