Hello,
I'm a new member to this forum looking for information on an Omega watch passed along to us by my father-in-law many years ago. Any knowledge or estimates to the watch's value would be appreciated. Thank you.

Not often that you see something that stuns the membership here. This thread should be good.

Never seen it before obviously it’s valuable if the guys above say so but I’m more stuck on how nice the darn thing looks.

Such a nice early Omega chronograph.
The condition seems to be good, especially for such an old piece.
Just a stunning watch and very desirable.
That is, why I love this forum...

Wow, I have not seen one of these before, and the dial looks amazing. I love that gilt ring.

What's the story behind the watch? Why would your father-in-law have purchased a chronograph. I think these were rather obscure back in the day.

Very nice piece, as others have said. 😀

The original owner of the watch was my husband's grandfather. He passed away before my husband was born. We were told that he was a 1st Engineer on Great Lakes iron ore carriers. He left the watch to my father-in-law, who served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. Although, we don't think he used the watch. We were told that he kept it in a drawer, as we have done. So, it's been great to finally have reached a forum where people know about it and appreciate it. 😀

Ha! I can answer the second question (although sheepishly, considering the audience). Yes, it has been in my husband's dresser drawer for about 35 years. And before that, my father-in-law's.

To think, all this time I've been looking in the wrong drawers.😁
