Hi All - I recently bought this 9ct Vintage Omega on Ebay - awesome watch with a calibre 268 manual. It is keeping EXACT time to +_0 seconds daily which is astounding to me.

Serial number starts 1977 xxx which I think dates it to c1962.

It is an award watch by the huge electronics company TOA.

About 35.5mm excl. crown wears awesome.

However try as I might I cannot find another equivalent watch anywhere?

    Surely it is not fake?

    Looking forward to the expert advice I always receive - many thanks in advance. IMG-0603.jpg IMG-0603.jpg IMG-0604.jpg IMG-0605.jpg IMG-0606.jpg IMG-0603.jpg IMG-0604.jpg IMG-0605.jpg IMG-0606.jpg

It's probably a locally cased watch without a standard reference number, so it may not be easy to find other examples. Someone may be able to identify the case-maker based on the engravings. Do you have any idea where the watch was originally purchased? UK?

Thanks Dan - Yep I think UK. Quite strange though as it has the Omega markings as if cased by Omega or am I barking up the wrong tree? Appreciate the expert assistance.

It’s like the bridges have been sanded... the movement number, the omega/jewel/Swiss made seems like it’s been sanded.

but my money is UK sold gold watch. I thought OA was used on some UK cases. But I’m not 100% sure.

I’m also pretty sure that 9k was never made by Omega. Locally cases watches in gold are somewhat common to get around gold tariffs in that time period.

Australian made cases are also typically 9K gold.

I don’t think that is a UK case. It’s not by the main casemakers and by law would have to have a full hallmark which it doesn’t.

ps I put that serial at nearer 1960-61

Agreed. You wouldn't expect to see a '9K' stamp on a UK case. It would be a full hallmark or as it's pre-72, possibly 9CT.
