Help with grandfathers 50s Omega

Hello everyone - Hoping to find some information about my grandfathers Omega. Would be interested to know about identification, dating, model number etc if possible.

Has been in the family since 1958 as per the engraving on the back. Has been serviced at some point in the last decade I believe but no details of that remain. Would have been purchased in Australia or perhaps England.

My next step would be to take it to a watchmaker for a service and identification but wanted to see what the internet could turn up.

All information inside Caseback for reference and movement serial number.
The minute markers look irregular particularly between 5-6 and 6-7 and several of hour markers look misaligned raiding question of old redial but can be hard to tell on waffle dial. See what experts think.

Thanks! I think the irregular markers are an artifact of the camera zoom. They look aligned in person to my untrained eye 😀

Gold cap case. Incorrect crown, but it's fine as it appears to be gold filled/capped to match case. Crystal is genuine and not a replacement

Do you feel a bump if you turn the case? Possible bumper movement or full rotor

SOG53 was talking about the 56. 57 and 58 index marks which appear to be angled and sitting into the outer ring. 9:00 index mark seems longer than 3 and 6

Based on dial condition. Could be an old re-dial

Case back edge appears to have some pitting. Not sure how much can be cleaned or not.

Get it serviced and take a picture of the movement

It looks like a clover crown from the side view, so should be correct.

The lugs look like a ref 2848, with cal 490/491, but we need to see the inside case back to be sure.

Correct. Top image made it look like multi thread/facets

Should be a 2846. Cal 501. As others stated the crown has been replaced with correct style in the past. This model was released in ~1956 so 1958 purchase date would make sense.

Which country / city do you live in? We might be able to recommend a good watchmaker for you.

ref 2848
Can’t be a 2848 as that’s small seconds.

Should be a 2846

I think it’s as 2767 with a caliber 354 bumper movement. Caseback matches other examples of the reference.
