Help with finding original parts Mark 2 racing dial

Hi guys,

I am new at the forum. Love it here! A lot of Omega knowledge around.

I recently acquired my second Omega watch. After buying an Omega Dynamic Geneve last year, I recently acquired an Omega Speedmaster Mark 2 racing dial (145.014). And I love it! It has a great look to it with the different colors, an amazing case style and of course a very good and accurate movement.

Of course I knew this example wasn't 100% mint when I bought it. But I love the vintage look here and I want to keep that alive. But the third chrono hand (chrono hour hand) has been replaced in the past. And now I want to have this one replaced with an original one. But I don't want to buy a new set of hands (the bright orange ones). So now I am looking for a vintage looking orange one. And the white (main dial) second hand has lost some paint over the years. I already inquired at some Omega certified watch makers but they don't seem to have it available. If you guys know of any, please let me know!

Same story with the caseback. The Hippocampus symbol is really worn out and hardly visible and I would love to have this one replaced with a better example. So any help on these issues is really appreciated.

Regards

Your best options are 1) placing a want to buy ad here and 2) setting up an eBay saved search.

Those may take quite some time to find, especially the caseback. Patience is your friend, and meanwhile you can enjoy yours as is. Love the dial on your example - beautiful.

Looks great as it is! As others have said, set up a search and wait for the right stuff to come along.

I had one restored by omega not long ago. It turned out well, and I like it, but it's not as nice as a proper vintage piece like yours.

Thank you for the advice guys. Wow, looks really good Oddboy! Perhaps a full restoration is not that bad. Those colors are popping out quite good. And now you see the great similarity between the old and new model. But I can wait for the right parts, and if I don't like it (enough), do a restoration later.

Think about it before committing. I had a full restoration done on a flightmaster that I regret. One of these days I'll have the original dial/hands put back in. Old watches that look new are definitely not for me.

+1. Mine was already hacked up.. service dial, wrong hands, not the nicest case.. it was a rescue, and I put way too much $$ into for what it's worth. But it was one of my first, and I'm ok with that. I really like it,

Yours doesn't need much to be preserved (whereas mine couldn't really be preserved, so it was restored). Preservation is always preferred.

Thank you all for the help. I tried to post in the Want To Buy section here but it's not allowed since I am a newbie here. But now I try to get my hand on some casebacks via Ebay. Quite sure the caseback will work out some day. But I could still use some help with locating the right, used, hands for my dear Speedmaster Mark II. So if any of you guys hear or see anything remotely familiair, please let me know! Thanks.
