The caseback looks very very off.

you are right. The caseback looks suspicious, and so does the letters Swiss Made on the dial and the 6 o'clock indice seems to short...sorry for not seeing this before I posted...

ill provide a better picture later, the swiss made writing is normal it’s just the quality of the photo and the angle it was taken at

Forget Swiss made, no amount of extra photos are going to make the bezel and caseback look legit. Sadly.

I can't believe anyone here has even the slightest doubt that this is a total piece of crap. Forget the case back , just look at the dial.

Fake. As well as the dial and case being wrong, it's not the Omega 861 movement as can be seen from the sub dials being wider than normal, resulting in short indicies at 3 and 9.

Sorry we did not have good news for you. The watch is definitely a fake Speedmaster. If you look on google images you can find the real Speedmaster that this is crude copy of to compare with..

Man, this is why I hate replicas and fakes so much. 😡 It's been passed down in the OP's family as genuine, and now he finds out its a fake, which means somebody probably got taken for a ride (who would knowingly pass down a fake to an heir?)

Look at the far subdials and constant running 12 hours at 6 o’clock.
This fake is using Seagull ST 19. Easy spot.

A lot of times the story that comes with the fake watch is just as fake....

Writing " I just stole this in a burglary and would like to know how much worth of drugs I should ask my dealer for in trade " sometimes doesn't get much help 😉

Um, ok. I know you were at least partially joking in your post, but I wasn't going to assume the worst about a new member...

The short indices at 3 and 9, and the applied letters on the caseback were a dead giveaway though. Ugh.

Whats odd is someone went through effort with an original case and plopped in a shit movement. Also the dial looks off centered in the case but that may be the angle of the photo.

The pushers are way too far apart for it to be an original case.
