hi
i could really use some help with this omega geneve i do not wanna purchase a redial.
to me everything looks good but i am a bit worried about the swiss made, i have not seen it placed there before but might just be a variation i have not seen before.
case looks polished, a second opinion would be great.
the crown looks fine and with omega logo so it might be right.
the price is 380€ is that fair?
thanks in advance

Well the gold plating on the case seems pretty chewed up, not so much polished. I can't comment on a redial but others will know. I've seen your other threads on possible purchases of a Seamaster and Connie with varying prices. What exactly are you looking for because all three of the watches you presented are very different.

It’s not a redial but it is also an average condition example of a pretty low end model. The price is fair if it has been verifiably serviced at some point in the last 5 years, otherwise it is not. It’s prob a 613 movement which is reliable but not exactly exciting. This is probably from circa 1970-73 so on the cusp of the dark days.

What's your budget? Because you could probably end up spending just a little more for a far better example.

It looks like a nice 1970 every day wearer.
It’s not a safe queen and has been used reasonably carefully by previous owner(s).

Given the fact that it’s 50 years old, I reckon that the gp case is in reasonable condition and that the price is very fair. 4 years ago, you might have hoped to pick it up for €250-300 but these are sought after now.

I sold this 613 Genève earlier this year on an eBay auction for £350. However, I polished it with a jewellers cloth before photographing it.

The photos are poor and, although I may be wrong, it looks like the indices at 6 may not be pristine. On top of this, it’s a handwind. Nothing wrong with a 601 movement but you can do better.

In your situation, and I have been - buying four Geneves and looking at others - I’d go for an automatic with a 552 or 565 movement.

I’d opt for stainless steel rather than gold plate - because the plating on a fifty year old watch rarely looks great and can’t be ‘polished' out.

Above all, I’d want the best dial and hands I can find.

Your questions appear to focus on €300-400 and I’ve skimmed eBay on your behalf.

I suggest you have a closer look at this. It’s a Buy it now for £325; so nice watch, good price, won’t break the bank.

Here’s the link - but you’d better be quick.

The dial looks really good. I would only repair is the gold-plating. After that, that would be a nice pretty Omega
