Hello - I discovered this forum was a great help in identifying a vintage seamaster I had acquired through a friend a number of years back and now find myself in a similar situation with a speedmaster I've had for awhile but equally know very little about and was hoping to get more info.
The inside caseback has the number 67 which I assumed was 1967 but when I put the numbers into an omega search database it lists the watch from 1957 which I know can't be correct from the style.
Can someone help me in dating this watch? Also is there a trick to removing the interior dust cover or a side/angle its best approached from? It is on very tightly and I'm afraid if I use too much force I might damage something.
PS - sorry the watch is so dirty, I really should have wiped it off BEFORE taking the pics haha :)

Looks very promising at first glance. It's from 1967 or 1968, but you will need to see the serial number on the movement to be sure it's all correct. Those are the numbers that go into the chart, not the reference number. For removing the antimagnetic dust cover, I suggest using a sharp wooden stick so that you don't scratch anything. Pry it from the crown side, it could take some force depending on how tight it is. If you pry it from the other side, the whole movement will pivot upwards. Alternatively, put on some rubber gloves and grip the dustcover with your fingers. Try rotating it gently as you pull upwards. It's just a tight fit.

I agree with experts above, looks promising for sure. Be sure to confirm the serial and also it should come with 24 tooth crown. Given the layers of cheese on the back, it will probably need service.

Also, I think there is some lume loss on certain markers, especially at the 8 marker, you’ll need to confirm with better pics.

This watch has had a pretty hard life, at the right price, it could serve as a good daily wear.

Look good! Some lume loss and a service crown.
Find a good independant watchmaker to do a full service. He'll give you all the numbers and pics you need.

Thanks so much for the advice on how to best attack this, at first I thought it best to approach from the opposite side but when I tried it from the crown side it prevented the movement from pivoting up and the cover popped right off!
Love the help and knowledge you guys provide!

It's a bit hard to read the serial, but if it is 26004029, then that is giving approximately a March 1968 production date, according to
    ilovemyspeedmaster.com

Of course an Extract of the Archives would give you a firm date.

Sweet mother of Jesus, it is unbelievable that these kind of stories still do happen. Congratulations to the OP on a very nice watch!
Please take good care of it and let a professional service it. This is one of those pieces where one should be more a custodian than an owner.
