    Hi Guys,

New to the forum and vintage Omegas. I have done some initial research to try to understand what I can about 145.012 Speedmasters but am no where near an expert. I have found this watch and they seller has agreed to a reasonable trade from my end. The watch originally came from a known seller a couple years ago, but I wanted to get your opinions on it. I know the bezel is a service replacement as it is not a DON. Any advice or comments are much appreciated.

As always in these cases, judging a watch without a ballpark price makes little sense.
Overall, I'd say that the watch looks correct (bar the DON bezel) but not extremely attractive: the lume of the dial is uneven and does not match the hands. The case looks nice and the caseback is very good.
Having the bracelet is a plus.
Now, if it is 7k, I'd say drop it, but if it is 3k it would be a great buy.
It's an example that, if bought at the good price, could turn out spectacular after a good relume (or kept as is, touchy subject) and a movement service

Bracelet adds about 1.5k usd to value if it’s correct. So factor that in. Subtract 2k for wrong bezel.

Without price impossible to tell you if it’s a good deal.

I appreciate the reply. I would be trading for a watch that I am into for ~$2500, so it seemed like a reasonable deal. I agree doesn't seem like the most beautiful example. Is there a reason why the hand lume would appear blackish? I am more familiar with rolex and haven't seen much of that on rolexs but it does seem a bit more common in speedys of this age.

The subject of relume always seems to be a no no but agree it would look a lot better with one!

    Thanks again

It’s a great deal for you IMO. Worth well more than that even if it isn’t perfect.

    Re lume mismatch.

Those pictures are not going to explain it. Dial might be cleaned. Or they are not a matching set. Not enough dial detail to judge the dial lume.

Agreed, it seems like some of the plots could have been scraped off.
Anyhow, for the equivalent of 2.5k it's a steal. Then again, it depends what's the market value on the watch you would trade... (if you bought a 6263 Daytona for 2.5k, the trade wouldn't seem so good anymore :) )

Haha I wish it was Newman! It just a 16220 DJ, market value ~$3,300. So consensus is its a reasonable deal, even with the condition of lume?

Yes, it's a very good deal. The bracelet is worth half of that. You need to know the movement number though to make sure that it's not out of range for a 145.012, which would be problematic.
Then again, for 3300$ I'd still buy it...

Paid $2000 for the regular Daytona. $350 for the exotic dial (Paul Newman) one.

    Straight up in person trade?

3300 trade value for a 145.012 with a DNN and that bracelet...

3300 is about what I’d value the head only. Figure recoupe 500 selling the DNN. Then 3k for a DON to make it right.

    I’d vet the seller first.
