Help request - vintage Certina

I just bought a vintage Certina and I would appreciate everyone's thoughts on authenticity and/or any watch information.
- The reference is stamped on the back case as 8878.27 I can find very little info on this reference.
- Movement is stamped caliber 324 (mechanical wind). No serial number
- Case serial number is 2,1###,### which dates it to 1952 (according to www.vintagecertinas.ch )
- The seller states that the dial is original, and it looks like it to my untrained eye.
- The crown seems a little off to me, maybe too big? feels a little cheap too
- Watch is "acier staybrite" (i.e. stainless steel) with 14K cap

I appreciate everyone's thoughts on the originality of the watch and any other information you can provide (name of model?). Cheers!

What is it about the title of this forum that made you think posting about Certina here was the right thing to do?

The forum title has the word "vintage" and so does the thread. I don't see the problem.

Perhaps a polite suggestion that posting this thread in the Open Discussion forum might have been a better choice? How about cutting @vintage hab some slack? It is not an Omega, but the production date of around 1952 would seem to qualify it as vintage. Certina used a lot of Kurth Freres movements in them, And I would certainly put them on a par with a lot of quality mid-range movements of the era. Too bad there isn’t an “unlike” tag to add to rude posts such as yours.

Looks like not all Certinas had the applied logo - this Golden Armour (from the vintagecertina site) doesn’t:

There are a boatload of different logo variations with Certinas of this age. I'd recommend looking at inconsistencies in the print and dial vs. case condition instead of looking at which type of logo is used.

Lovely looking Certina!

According to https://www.vintagecertinas.ch/en/certina-case-movement-and-serial-numbers/ the font indicates a post 1953 dial hence not original to the watch that dates to 1952. It's also missing the certina logo so my guess it has been redone.
I might be wrong so waiting for more knowledgeable members' input.

I used to own a lovely 18k rose gold Certina housing a 324 caliber. Hope these photos can help.

Thanks. I believe the logo started in 1958, so that is consistent with the case number.

Thanks Canuck. Is there a way that I can move the thread to the Open Discussion forum, or would I need to repost?

Putting you Certina thread in the vintage Omega forum seems to be a burr under the saddle of only one poster. If you were to re-post your thread, your original thread would remain where it is. And moving your thread would involve a moderator, and it really is not a big deal. I’d suggest you let it be. Based on the positive reaction of all other respondents to your thread, let’s put it down to @efauser having a bad day when he was so rude!

The font does not look original to me
I've looked long and hard and I'm not seeing any difference. What part of the font caught your attention?
