Hello everyone! First of all thanks for having me! I’m new to the forum.
I am no watch expert by any chance, and have been offered a vintage Omega Seamaster Automatic...1960’s perhaps...deducing by the seamonster case back. The watch keeps good time, crown is not original (has a tissot crown) but I would love to restore it.
Can anyone tell me the approx date of the following watch?
Owner is asking 350 bucks for it.
Any help or tips would be appreciated! Thanks! Be well and safe all of you!

I believe that the dial is not original, it was repainted in the past and then was badly damaged. The case is also not in great condition, and I wouldn't be surprised if the movement was also a mess. The watch is too far gone. In my opinion, you should not buy this watch, and instead try to budget about twice that amount for a nice original example.

Welcome to OF by the way, and thank you for you nice introductory post.

I don't believe the ref 2848, which is probably what this actually is/was ever came with a hippocampus back.

Appears to be a complete franken.

Just turn around, walk away from the watch and don't look back.....

Plus that watch seems to have Covid as can be seen by the handler.

Or, maybe the current owner works in crime scene cleanup. Which also explains the watch

I recommend spending more time here to read and watch the private sales to see examples of good honest watches and what the pricing looks like.
