Anyway, I think you are showing your age a bit with mates that worked on f4's
I remember the f111's coming to Amberley as a young fellow and was invited to go out there when the f18's came but I couldn't make it due to more pressing matters to attend to.

I remember (just) when we previously had a king -- at nearly three years old I was more interested in the freight trains that ran past my parents' house than systems of government. I remember the Aardvarks going to bomb Libya and the American owned company I was working for issuing emergency instructions to us about how not to appear to be American when traveling outside the USA. Not that we wanted to in any circumstances. Yes, some of us here can show our age a bit.

And I have an old mate who worked on F4s so 😜 😜 😜

Me too. F111's from Lakenheath after the KC135s from Mildenhall which, near as makes no difference, flew over our house. It seemed like more jet noise than any exercise prior. With an F111 pilot living a few doors away we certainly heard plenty in the days following.
