    Hi,

I'm trying to buy a vintage Omega to wear and it's quite the struggle navigating the hundreds of models that Omega has as well as the fakes and frankenwatches.

I've essentially come down to a stainless Ref. 165.003 as my target in terms of style including:

    - Stainless steel everything (hands/case/indices)
    - White/silver plain dial
    - Dauphine hands
    - Baton indices with no lume
    - Automatic (bumper or otherwise)
    - Slim (non-turtle) case

In addition to these requirements, I would prefer no date. I'm also hoping for one with small seconds but it seems that every watch with small seconds has sharktooth indices rather than baton so I've kind of given up on that.

Ref 165.010 is a similar model and I'm not quite sure the differences between them at all.

With a budget of <$1000, are there any other models I'm missing out on that follow these style guides?

    Thanks for any information!

If you’re happy to eschew the date, look up any Omega with a 552 movement.

Don't forget to factor in the service cost as well.

If that watch is a 165.003 then it has the wrong hands, wrong crown and is a redial. ETA: that was true of the originally posted image which OP has now replaced.

Sorry, it's just one I grabbed off google images. Just a representation of what kind of watch i'm looking for.

Understood, but if you are in the market to buy one then you need to know what you are looking at. It would be a useful learning experience to see if you can work out what's wrong about the hands, crown and dial for this model.

Definitely. The redials are difficult for me to spot unless they're blatant. Is it the "S" shape that gives it away?

No, it isn't. Look for images on Google to compare. Here's an all-original one. And I see you've replaced the original image, so my earlier post about dial/hands/crown no longer applies! Just a replacement crown there now.

Ah, the font in general for the omega and automatic is off. Now I just need to find one for sale but they seem to be hard to find.
