Hi all - I am new to the forum and also new to the world of watches. Somehow found myself delving into the world of watches and planning to purchase a pre-owned aqua terra 2500 (guess watch browsing is one way to pass the time when you're stuck at home all day).

Seeking your guys help on picking between the following two pre-owned watches:

Watch #1. Seamaster aqua terra 2504.50. Buying from Japanese seller ebay (closer0924); seems like very reputable seller and I've only see positive things about him on these forums. Watch appears to be in good addition externally. Price is quite good ~$1650.

HOWEVER, the watch is losing 15 seconds of time per day. I am worried this indicates the watch maybe in poor condition internally. I do plan to spend an extra $750 to get the watch serviced after buying

Watch #2. Also Seamaster aqua terra 2504.50. Watch appears to be in better condition and not losing time. Watch also comes with warranty card, which is a plus. The price is ~$350 more expensive, ~$2000

HOWEVER, the seller appears to be quite new / unknown (Authentic Research Co). Seller joined Chrono24 in 2019, only has ~40 verified sales, and very little evidence of operations outside of Chorno24 (minimal presence on ebay, barebones website, no physical location).

Would you guys recommend: spend total of $2400 on watch #1 (including cost of service) vs. spend $2000 on watch #2 (get a warranty card but have some seller risk of fake watch... also saves some money as I can wait 2-3 years for service). Thanks in advance!

Buy the seller. Make sure that you check the length of the bracelet as the watches from Japan tend to be sized for smaller wrists. Additional links can be purchased but you should factor in that potential cost along with the cost to have the watch serviced. Good luck!

Buy the seller. Ask for more photos of the watch. Different views.

I'd be looking at other watches/sellers... as @fskywalker has said ELady has a good reputation and definitely someone to consider :)

    Definitely buy the seller!

Agree with all, buy the seller. Yes there are reasons to sometimes go the other way but usually it takes more than $300-400 for me to change that rule.

I can also vouch for eLady. I purchased my 2254.50 from them last year and was very happy with the watch & the transaction.

Me too. I also bought a couple of watches from eLady before.
