Hi everybody, I'm definitely no expert on Omegas, so wanted to know what you guys think. Problem is serial number dates movement to '74. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide, Louie
Cursory glace at the single image 1: Dial appears washed, no luminous material left from the looks of it 2: Well polished case looking at the bezel edge 3: Hands have been repainted, certainly around the middle and the chrono hand 4: Good DON worth strong money on its own
To me personally when a vintage Speedy has a washed Tritium dial, it loses all of its vintage appeal. Might as well buy a brand new Moonwatch...
Hard to say without more pics, especially of the inside of the caseback and of the movement. Case value took a hit with the polishing over the years. Dial took a hit with the lume removal. But the bezel is worth about what you paid for the while watch, so you are ahead of the game.
Need to see the movement. There are some tells to date the movement. But no ones figured out what is actually special about that dial. Think it through. Also that bezel is worth more then what was paid for the piece.
It’s a transitional dial. Rare AML 861 dial, with the applied metal logo. As well as long indices. @Menomena can you tell if the brake is metal or plastic? A 74 would be plastic. http://s198.photobucket.com/user/LD_album/media/Omega/DelrinBrake.jpg.html The angle and color makes it hard to tell which it is.
Beginning to look like a real steal at $3,300, even if if may be a franken. The value of the parts is well above $3,300.
Oh. No biggie to me, I guess. For some reason, I remember these dials floating around on eBay, like the 220 bezels, looking for new homes. The right watch is rare enough that there’s not much demand for the bezels or dials. So, in this instance, it’s merely the correct dial for the caseback. So is the bezel, which is both worth more and worth more comment. I thought there was something ‘unique’ about the dial you were referring to — made me get out my MWO when I couldn’t figure it out.

It’s metal. On the plastic ones, the post is thicker. Serves a different purpose here, but still works:
