Help on Speedmaster

I may have the opportunity to buy this Speedmaster, but in early stages of comms.

I am very new to this and don't want to get stung too badly.

I know nothing of the watch, can anyone advise, on the model type and possible very rough value, based purely on the photo ? I know that a detailed inspection is a must, but just after a ballpark figure. Assuming all is good with the watch. No docs, history or box as far as i am aware.

Much appreciate the help.

Looks fake to me, on my one the center chronohand looks different at the base, glass has no milky ring and bezel looks very wide;

Also, the sub-dials have a weird raised look cutting off the numbers, no “Swiss Made” at the bottom, and the angle effect on the indices looks different and less pronounced.

If you don’t know anything about the watch, especially a limited edition, you really need to buy the seller.

It's the Apollo 11 50th anniversary watch from 2019, it comes with an elaborate package and documentation. It's very odd that all of that is missing already. You can research the pricing on Chrono 24, but the original price was US $ 9,650 and 6,969 pieces were made. Without box and papers the price would take a big hit. That said, that watch looks hinky, something is not right. Show us a picture of the back, that would be difficult to fake. Otherwise, stay away, you'll probably get burned.

Don't waste your time any further with that. Very obviously fake.

Thanks everyone. The price alone, got me thinking £850 gbp. I'll give it a wide berth. Very helpful, cheers.

If the price is too good to be true that’s a dead giveaway.

Ha. I know, but like I said, I know absolutely nothing about the watch model or anything, I am a complete newbie. So, didn't want to lead off with my own suspicions, just wanted a fair opinion on the hardware, rather than the price offered, which does seem too good to be true. Hence why I was asking.

Your best bet is probably to keep an eye on the for sale section here or purchase from an Omega AD. You should be able to find a neo-vintage tritium watch from the 90s for a reasonable price if you don’t want to pay new full retail prices. Bargains are harder to come by and you need to know your stuff so you can jump on opportunities.

You did well asking here first. Lots of people buy first and then ask after they’ve been burned.
