Help on Omega Constellation 564?

Hi Guys, I’m a new member from Scotland and was looking for some help with a watch I’m looking to buy.

It’s advertised as an Omega Constellation 564 Automatic, but the face looks a bit off. Although it may be the photos.

I’ve been checking out posts on here for a white and comparing it to some of your examples, but I’m not sure.

I’ve read up on the MOY test and the watch seems to pass.

Any help you could offer would be appreciated and if it’s a ‘go’ I’m happy to post pics as soon as it arrives!

Cheers guys,

Brisco

Photos are terrible For assessing any details but it's a redial unfortunately. Crown is wrong as well.

Thanks for this. You should probably be posting photos of the movement and inside case back to obtain worthwhile advice on the merits of the watch.

Superficially, and I’m not into Constellations, from the photos you’ve posted, the case looks to have been polished (which may not be a good sign) but on the positive (from your perspective) the hands look well worn and the marks on the dial between 9 and 12 suggest to me that the hands and dial are in original condition, although the minute markers have vanished. On the negative, to the naked eye, the dial star doesn’t seem to sit true in the photos.

I'd personally give it a miss.

Thanks for the advice, I pulled the trigger on it on gumtree (paid £140 via PayPal). I’ll post photos when it arrives. We can all either rejoice at my great judgement or laugh at my error

Certainly worth £140, particularly if it runs well. Think of it as a posh beater. You can rest assured that 99.99% of those who see you wearing it will not even contemplate the idea that there are any of the issues that members of the OF would raise.

This watch has a very peculiar mix of characteristics.
It looks like a 168.018, which would suit the hands and crown - but it has a dome dial when it should be a flat dial.
however, it has a square date window - which you would usually find on much later Connies and never (to my knowledge) on a dome dial.
the case back is also really odd looking and doesn’t match the reference.

looking forward to see what’s inside.

Still, if there is a 564 under the hood it’s worth the £140 gamble.

Unfortunately, it looks like the watch I bought is the actually the watch for sale on EBay! Look at the photo of the case back (particularly the reflection) for both my photo and the EBay photo. The reflections are the same. The other photos are very similar (if not identical). I’m not sure who the scammer is, the EBay guy or the Gumtree guy. I have contacted PayPal and they are investigating this. I tried to call and email my Gumtree seller and his mobile number is only 8 numbers long, so it doesn’t work.

Definitely the same watch.
Hope you get your money back.

PayPal have successfully put the payment on hold. The Gumtree guy has now deleted his ad, but has now emailed me via a new email account (not linked to his PayPal but looks similar) asking me to make a new PayPal payment via friends & family ‘to avoid delaying the watch arriving’. Which I understand I can’t stop the payment on. LOL!
