Happy new year to all OF members 😀
I’m looking at this 35 mm Longines and would like to hear your inputs as I’m not familiar at all with military watches type. It’s the dial original? Hands, crown, .... what are your overall thoughts ... worth collecting? Pictures very poor so far, once the seller send me more I’ll share
Thanks

Here’s one from the same batch with a movement serial number that is only 94 lower than yours. His DH number 4016 is also 94 lower than your 4110. Looks promising !!! Is it 110 written on the back of the lug ?

I’d say everything else looks correct, although you might want to check whether the hands have possibly been relumed. The case looks a bit battered around the
6 o’clock side too. It’s all dependent on cost, as these vary from bargain basement to astronomical. How much is the seller asking ? Also be aware these are pretty small... certainly not 35mm as stated (unless including the crown).

thanks for your reply. I can read the 110 written on the back....it's very dirty right there. Seller wants 800 € , good to know that size is not as he says. thanks again

That’s a pretty fair price for one of these. If you’re OK with the size then I’d say go for it,

I was looking on my phone earlier. Now on a big screen I think there’s isn’t really any damage just filth. Better pictures would help if you have the liberty to wait.

Hi, I would say that the lume on some of the numerals has been messed with, 10, 11, 8, 5 and possibly others. I would consider the price on the slightly high side but it's always subjective. Nice watch.

Yes looks to be a correct observation. Given the colour I’d guess that the hands were done at exactly the same time. Well spotted.

The midcase should be matched with the caseback. They do they by writing the last three digits of the DH number onto the lug. Your DH number on the caseback is 4110, so they put 110 onto the lug. It means that your caseback is original to the midcase. It’s a plus as a lot of military watches end up with mixed parts.

Concur with @LarryG regarding size.
Another important piece of information which you may care to know:
It is a Wehrmacht watch from WWII- as indicated by the military engravings « D.H. » at the back. Which means « Deutsches Heer »
Ie German military ground forces.
produced around 1942 based on the serial number.

the seller told me that bought the watch in antiquarian shop in Austria, so it make sense that was from the German Army. Do you think that the lume has been retouch or it's like this as it's falling apart from its age? he says that is fully original

For me the history of those watches trumps everything else-- and my personal choice is that I do not discuss their lume or any other horological minutia.

The hands were relumed for sure and probably the dial too IMO

I respect your opinion but value of the watch can be affected dramatically if it's relumed....?? As I see different prices of this particular watch I want to be on the safe side , thanks

The dial has wear for sure, and the hands are relumed. The dial can be relumed, or the radium has become «puffy» because of humidity. Hard to tell throug the plexiglass IMO. But I like how it is presented with the flexiband and full of dirt.
