    Hi good people of OF,

Took a gamble and won this just now. The movement looks ok but I'm not familiar enough with the dial to tell whether it's original or not. Seller photos aren't that good as well, can't even work out the case reference. Can anyone please chime in on this? Appreciate it!

    Thanks heaps

    Andre

Looks authentic to me, even with period correct hands...

Well, the dial is quite a bit patinated but original - it is important that you like it as it is....

Sweet, this will go straight to my watchmaker then! Means a lot coming from an expert like you, especially for these types of watches! I always admire your collection! Can you please confirm the movement and maybe that case reference?

Yes I don't mind the patina on the dial, wasn't expecting the dial to be mint anyway for this particular one!

Ps. Also with the hands, most of the examples out of google comes with square ended sweep second instead of the spear ended like this, good to know that it's correct as well!

I can´t comment on matching movement serial with ref. - they seem to be in a reasonable range - only an extract will proof though.

But it is not such an important watch to spend CH 120 for a piece of paper... it is a watch to enjoy and wear.

Concerning the sweep second hand: it could well have been changed (or not), both types have been used in this era...

But what is most important: it has the right length!

Ah I saw this on eBay earlier, a '1 day' auction. It is rather beautiful, and although it's not running now, I'm sure your watchmaker will make it look and run great! Congratulations on winning!

Is this movement a 30T2 tho? Sorry I just want to clarify it as I'm not that familiar with it!

Yes the length looks correct that's why I still went with it!

Correct, '1day auction'. Thanks mate this is my first time only Omega, second Omega after my -68 Speedy!

It has a 30 T2 SC inside (SC stands for center second in French)

I see, really appreciate that! I've just found this as well,

    sweep second:
    30SC : 16 jewels, no shock protection
30T1: 16 jewels, no shock protection
30T2SC: 16 jwwels, no shock protection
    30T2SCPC: 17/18 jewels, Incabloc
    280: =Omega 30SC T2 since 1949, 17 jewels
    281: 17 jewels, excenter regulator
    283,284: 17 jewels, antimagnetic
    285: ring- instead screw balance
    286: flat- instead Breguet-hairspring

That's definitely the Straya way mate!
