Hi guys, this one has been up for a while but just looking for second opinions. Its a 145.012-67 with a replaced (incorrect) bezel. How "good" is this tropical dial? The calibre 321 looks pretty worn and tinkered, especially the casing around it? Your expert opinions are welcome!

    Cheers and thanks in advance!

I really like the dial, the case isn't wonderful. The bezel can be found.

For the right price, to me it's a goer.

Thank you for your comment. Do you know if the 321 looks fine? Casing looks corrosive? It hasn't been sold for a while and I'm wondering if I'm overlooking something bad...

Others will chime in I'm sure who are better informed, but to me, the movement looks fine, and as I said, the case isn't wonderful. Now that I am looking again, you don't show a picture of the caseback - outside and in - have you got one?

    Like the looks of it!

Of course a do90 bezel would be nice. However since this bezel is also aged it wouldn't bother me that much..

Exactly what I'm thinking. It doesn't bother me that much as it is. Thanks for chiming in!

You could argue that every 321 Speedmaster is worth buying. It just depends on the price.
I like the dial here a lot and the hands match perfectly. But the bezel is wrong and the inner case has corrosion.

Depends on the price. Sellers often get carried away with a tropical dial.

The chrono hand looks with a different patina than the hours and minutes hands, any of them glow in the dark after heavy light?

Can something be done to mediate (or prevent further damage) the corrosion in the inner case?

I don't have pictures of them in the dark but I highly doubt that anything will glow in the dark. But again I'm no expert.

That's the idea, to know if new parts are mixed with old ones.

If it's sent to a good watchmaker they'll fully clean the case and remove any corrosion to prevent it spreading. You'll obviously be left with areas where metal has been lost (as can be seen in the pics) but as long as you don't take it in water or humid areas it shouldn't spread any further.

As gornati is suggesting, hit the watch with a camera flash and take it into a dark room. You're looking for a feint, even glow from the hands and dial. They all look original to me though.

    Just depends on the price...

I see. Thanks! The case is very worn but isn't over polished right?

Also, I'm a bit confused whether 145.012 was actually worn on the moon? I thought it was the 105.012's worn by Aldrin and Armstrong via the Eagle while Collins was wearing the 145.012 waiting in the Columbia motherload? So how did 145.012 belong to the "first watch on the moon" according to Omega (citing Chronomaddox)? I guess both 105.012 and 145.012 are used in the Apollo XI mission? Somebody shed some light please!

Is it possible that this is baked? Its a stepped dial and the lume is still present. But one can still find an old stepped dial and bake it? I saw the thread in OF about it...

Does tropical dial only occur in specific Speedmasters? I find a lot of tropical on the 145.022 but not much in the 105.012 or 145.012.

I like the look of that mesh bracelet. Do you have more pics?

    Thanks.
