Old strap? New, still under warranty?
No, not new and it’s definitely out of warranty. I bought the watch around 2008.
I’d buy a replacement, if it were me. Even if it’s repaired, how much confidence will you have in that thing?
That said, unless you just HAVE to have an OEM strap, I’d advise against paying for one. So many (frankly as good or better) options out there for a mere fraction of that. And you can swap in the buckle, which is what really matters. Don’t pay hundreds for a few strips of leather.
I can't really see the damage from that photo, e.g. whether it is structural or just cosmetic. When I glue straps to attach them to fixed bars, I normally use Barge cement. Use it the way you're supposed to use rubber cement, by applying to both surfaces and allowing it to set before clamping the surfaces together.
The rest of the strap has gotta be showing some wear by now.. I would personally just replace it.
Time to buy a new one. After 16 years, it probably smells too!
What is the watch, BTW? I'm sure everyone is dying to know after all this discussion of the strap. 😕
