Hey guys,

while I was, out the pin of my 1039 clasp came loose and got lost.

Where do I find a replacement? Or do watchmakers generally have stuff like this in stock?

Thanks!

@Majork - nothing to worry about. You've got your Speedy, and you've got both halves of the bracelet, and these are the important parts. The beauty of a mechanical watch is that when something breaks, you simply fix the broken mechanical part, and everything will be back to 100%.

@rogart is on the right track, and this is likely what you will use to repair your clasp.

I own several 1039 bracelets, and, the clasp pin you are referring to fits differently in each of them - one is a little looser; others are a little tighter. When you're getting down to the level of these parts 50 years ago, I don't think you had "factory original" spring bars, pressure bars, etc manufactured by Omega per se; rather, they sourced them from various suppliers, such as what @rogart is suggesting above. You can expect that a watchmaker who specializes in vintage watches will easily be able to fix this for you (feel free to ask on here for recommendations - you'll find many strong references).

Additionally, check out Classic Watch Repair (Michael Young) in Hong Kong. He is renowned for his ability to restore very, very damaged and worn vintage Rolex bracelets - along with Omega, and other Swiss brands. In, fact, bracelet restoration seems to be his speciality:

If you're curious about technical details. . .while this starts to get a little bit into the weeds, this is a very, very detailed post that Michael Young posted on The Rolex Forums, regarding how different types of bracelets are repaired:

Bottom line - your issue and the required repair is about as minor as it gets. You'll have a better, and more reliable bracelet that will serve you well for years to come when you are done. Enjoy, and good luck!!
