Hi Everyone,

I was hoping to get your thoughts on a recent purchase. I've always been a fan of the 166.010 and finally had the opportunity to buy a decent one from eBay (at a good price) that came with an original box and breads of rice bracelet. Before I bought it, I noticed that the reference number on the caseback looked incorrect, so I assumed It may have been accidentally switched at some point with a 165.002 caseback. In the moment, this didn't really seem like a major issue considering the price and the fact that I wanted a something that was more of a beater/wearer. I don't intended on beating it around, but I sometimes prefer a not so perfect example so I won't feel bad wearing and enjoying it.

Other than that, do any of you notice any other major issues? Its definitely a little worn and the original crystal is beat up, but the dial looks great to me. Does the crown seem original? When I looked up the model, I noticed a few different types, so I wasn't sure if this was an original crown or a later replacement.

This is also my first beads of rice bracelet. The Ref on the clasp is 1036 and the end links have the number 11 stamped on. After reviewing other forum posts, it seemed alright, but possibly not original to this specific watch. Do any of you with more experience notice any issues with it?

Thank you so much for any help or advice!

At first glance, I'm not sure I like the way that case-back fits. It doesn't seem to be the same outer diameter as the correct back. Will it seal properly? The bracelet looks good on the watch.

If it were a 165.010 back not such a big deal but the 165.002 is a completely different watch.

Not such a bargain.

I just recently bought this model. The crown is original but no replacements exist. My watchmaker will try to replace the gasket in mine. Same bracelet, same ill-fitting end links. You can buy replacement 511 end links from Omega. I'm likely going to replace my bracelet entirely since it is worn and missing one of the inner "rice" links.

I think you did well, bummer about the case back. Have your watchmaker call Omega to see if they have a replacement?

I really appreciate all your replies! @Dan S I appreciate you finding that caseback. I'm planning on opening it up and looking at the threads and then I'll probably move forward and buy that one. If it seals fine, I think I could personally care less.

@SkunkPrince I appreciate the context! I've seen different crowns on most of these and assumed that this one must've been incorrect. The ill fitting end links are such a bummer that I may just get a leather strap. l'll definitely be digging deeper about the caseback to see what I can find.
