Help needed with old Seamaster

Hi all and hope you can help newbie. I recently got two Omega's. Pocket watch from 1930s and Seamaster probably from 1950's. I hope someone could help to identify the Seamaster model or provide any other info about it. Picture attached. Backside is just stainless steel w/o any manufacturer markings (have craving for previous owners initials and date). My uncle got this watch 1959 so assume it's from around that year. I went through Omega website and some old models but did not see exactly similar. Ones with closest match were having either plain white background (vs white/gray I have), all Roman numbers (vs 3,6,9,12) or having text Automatic under Omega name. Does mentioned differences mean different model or is there just so many variants?

If you remove the case-back, all of your questions will be answered with greater certainty. There is a reference number inside the case-back, and the movement caliber and serial number will also be apparent.

The lack of automatic text suggests it may be model 2761 or similar. That model used the 420 manual wind movement and were sold in the mid 1950s, around 1954 to 1958. Cases like this were also made locally, by Dennison in the UK for instance. I have one very like it:

Oh the lack of any markings on the back is also suggestive that it is a Dennison cased model, the Swiss versions had Seamaster and Waterproof text, the UK ones did not.

Your watch looks like an old bumper (automatic). My guess is ref 2846 with cal 501 😗.

The 2846 is not a bumper model and would usually have 'automatic' on the dial 😉

Oups. Just tried 😁:whipped:.
Just checked my 2846 and, as you said, it has "automatic" on the dial and cal 501 is no bumper... I was wrong all along 😬

Thanks and yes that's the next step. Watch works perfectly but was planning to took it to service as dont want to open it by myself. Have original strap somewhere too...

Nice watch! You are smart to not mess with it, nor should you even try to clean it up (waterproof seals are long shot). And if it hasn’t been serviced within the last 10 year’s the oils inside will be all dried up so minimize wearing it despite the desire as the parts inside will be grinding away with no lubricant.
Let us know where you are in the world and someone can recommend a watchmaker who has experience with these.

Yep, it’s a 2761 reference with a 420 caliber movement IMO. Original crown on the OP’s watch, too! Those crowns are not easy to find. It’ll clean up nicely.

Here’s one I sold recently..

That’s what we’re here for. If you don’t get a response for a watchmaker on this thread in the next few days, post a new thread in the vintage forum specifically asking for “watchmaker in Finland”. I know we have members who live there but don’t read all the threads.

The black dial ones sell for quite a bit more than non-black dial ones. Check eBay sold listings for 1950s Seamasters to get a sense for pricing.
