Hi everyone,

I would need some help on that Tissot PR516 GL. I already have a PR516 Diver and I'm also getting very soon a PR516 chrono. So this could make a nice trio. I'm discussing with the seller and before closing a deal I asked for pictures of the inside. All refs matches and everything seems original but I'd like your opinion on the movement itself.

Réf : 44572x1
Movement : Tissot 784-2

As you can see below the dial and case are really in nice conditions. The seller says the watch is functioning and keeps good time. He does sound like a honest collector so no reason to doubt his word there.

The movement last service date is unknown.
Looking at the picture, I can see that a piece seems kind of very worn/darkened or worse ('melted with the 'ruby/jewel' ?). I'm too ignorant to name the parts I'm talking about but I trust you will see it like I do 😀

Movements pics :
I've found another picture to compare it with : here is how it should look :

And here is a picture of the dial (I like the fact that the minute hand goes below the indexes)

So all in all, here are my questions :
How serious this 'issue' look like ? Is it an easy part to find in your experience ?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts !

I'm not a watchmaker so take what I have to say with a grain of salt. But just to get this conversation started, I think it's a fine example. I believe this model also came with the serif 'T' on the crown as well so that may be a detail you might want to check as well. As for the technical side, it may just be the poor pictures and how the camera rendered the jewel in the harsh light that may make it look weird. Unless the jewel is completely missing you should be fine. Though if you want to wear this piece regularly I'd recommend getting it serviced by your local watchmaker as a dry movement will not do you any favors.

Thanks @byunjoe !

The crown is signed & If it comes in my possession I will definitely go for a service.
I was kind of afraid these particular parts could either be difficult to find or mean much more work and ending up with a very expensive watch.

I appreciate your help !

I'm not seeing anything very wrong on this movement; it is quite hard to be more specific just by looking at a picture. You may want to be careful with the crystal if you buy it, I would not be surprised if it was a specific part. (translation : hard to find by now)

Thanks @S.H.
I’ll pay more attention to the crystal.
I’ve asked meanwhile another picture to the seller on the specific area I mentioned… I think I will take my chance.
