It's a 'pre-bond' Omega Seamaster 200. Googling this will reveal further info on the model.

The serial number will be on the movement.

It’s a “Pre-Bond” Omega Seamaster, made in the late 1980s. Early ones had Mercedes-style hands, but later ones have the hands on yours. It’s a quartz model, BTW. If it’s not currently working, you need to have the case back opened and check that the battery has not leaked - this happens a lot when a watch has been sitting unused for many years. The resulting corrosion could destroy the movement. Any watchmaker can do that, and also get you the serial number (on the movement) and reference number (on the case back) - you have to remove the case back to do that.

here’s another thread on them:

And because you asked about the strap, it’s an integrated bracelet so is not easily removable/replaceable.

Thank you that's all very helpful, it isn't currently working so will need to get battery replaced. Can I identify the exact age once I have the serial number?.

Unlikely. Just the general date range. I believe these were sold from 1998-sometime in the early 1990s when they were replaced by the still existing Seamaster Professional 300m version featured in the Brosnan Bond films, hence the “Bond” and “pre-Bond” names.

Once you have the serial number from the movement you have two options.

1. Use an Omega Serial number chart to give you an approximate age (+/- 3 years or so).

2. Request and Extract of the Archives from Omega. This will give you a precise production date, and the country the watch was delivered to. Costs is around 120 Swiss francs.

Also a note- if your girlfriend wants to wear it (these Seamsters look equally awesome on a woman as they do a man), the watchmaker who replaces the battery (as long as that’s all that’s going on) can resize the bracelet to fit her.

Oh, and as far as value- a quick eBay search on working models are around $4-600 for the 36mm and a couple hundred more for the 38mm. If it were the automatic version is would be about twice that.
