Help needed identifying/valuing inherited Omega Seamaster

Hello. I inherited a number of watches from my step-father. One is an Omega Seamaster with a flexible metal band. I do not have any info on it, but believe it may have been his daily wearer during his time in Navy (Vietnam era). I have not opened it up (don't know how) but can do so if necessary. I appreciate any guidance. 20211030_100132.jpg 20211030_100402.jpg 20211030_100452.jpg 20211030_100323.jpg 20211030_100338.jpg 20211030_100132.jpg 20211030_100402.jpg 20211030_100452.jpg 20211030_100323.jpg 20211030_100338.jpg

Looks like a front loading Seamaster (Pre-Deville) from the early/mid 60’s. Original crown. Nice little piece.

That cheap aftermarket bracelet will be doing the lugs no favours.

edit - apologies. On my phone I didn’t notice the crown was gold so as pointed out below, correct form but not original

As noted above, a watchmaker will need to open it for you. They won’t be inclined to do it just for giggles, because it is more involved than just unscrewing the back. But, if your aim is to get a quote from the watchmaker for getting the watch serviced, then I’m sure they would be happy to. And, it will need a service before you wear it.

It is a nice looking watch, you don’t see the Arabic numerals like this very often. Mine is from ‘61, different typography style, but also with the “coat hanger” S in Seamaster

Bracelet is not original and can damage the lugs as has been said. Watch is from the mid sixties. The crown was replaced at some point with a gold one. It won't be too hard to find an appropriate crown. Overall watch is in good shape. Sentimental value probably exceeds monetary value. It would look good on a nice strap, and after a a service could be a nice wearer. You will have to do a little market research but value is around $500 us. Also, don't try to open it. These front loaders can be tricky, have a watchmaker do it.

Welcome to the forums! Great that you provided so many good quality photos, well done. Agree with everything the previous posters have stated... my two cents worth is that for a vintage watch, these "wear" very nicely, with the slim bezel making the face look larger than the vintage 34-35mm would suggest. A service and a nice leather strap (or beads of rice) will make this pop. My scruffy one says hi:
