I want to purchase this watch and i will need a critical eye. Sorry for the low quality pictures but i just print screen them from the add. Seller ask 950 Euro..Should i buy it or it's overpriced ?

Tell him to cut it down $200 usd because the crown is not original and the hour markers are black painted and started to fade.
(I would not buy a late 168.005 with black painted hour markers)

 

I have heard that the hour indexes on these have onyx inlay. I’m no final authority, but looks good to me. Case is gold shell on stainless steel. Looks like $1,400.00 (Cdn.). Compare that with prices being asked elsewhere for these ($1,500.00 to $2,200.00 (Cdn.), and I’d say it looks pretty good. But no risk to me as it’s not my money.

 

Whilst I don’t have the same aversion to black painted indices that @hoipolloi has (the later doglegs didn’t have onyx inserts @Canuck ) the case is really soft and has lost the facets on the lugs.
You should be able to get a decent gold cap dogleg pie pan for not much more than the asking price for this with a bit of patience.
It would be a pass from me.

 

I'd say the price is in line with retail. It looks very clean to me and I think you should go with your gut!

 

Do you own one? Do you know how bad it will be?

 

My critical eye would like to see a straight focussed picture of the dial.

 

Thank you for all the replies. My conclusion is that if i want to buy that this watch i have to negotiate a little so i can consider a 'good deal'
and of course in the future i will give more attention to the indices..
