Help Me Pick?

Wife has allocated my January Watch Expenditures to not exceed $175 (marriage isn't ever fair - she innocently enough asked me appx what I spent on watches in 2022 and then used that info against me)...

as such, am thinking I'd like to get new shoes for my Speedmaster Professional 3861.

Leather is a hard No-Go (I ride a bicycle chronically so between sweat and rain leather doesn't last for me) but otherwise, thoughts/opinions?

Maybe a nice rubber tropical or US flat link? Bonklip perhaps? How about a Forstner Rivet stretch or Komfit?

Suggestions appreciated.

I like the US flat link. I've worn it on my Broad Arrow Replica. Looks good. Currently, it's on my SM300.

Don't buy a watch, or anything watch related. Use the $175 to take her out for dinner and a movie.

Your watch budget will improve 😉

Truth... but she's a RN and therefore used to being around liars, thieves and swindlers. She'll smell bullshit immediately.
But it is worth a try nonetheless.

I'm vegan brother.
'Splain this voodoo material... Google tells me it's basically a Milanese strap that's not adjustable -- say it ain't so?

It's heavy duty high quality polished stainless steel wire, woven into man-sized links, not like fancy delicate Milanese fashion stuff.
It's infinitely adjustable (for initial sizing) and is secured by a seat belt style clasp (the same thing used to retain millions of drivers and passengers).

It's what real mean wear 😉.

Is the month-to-month allocation use-it-or-lose-it? Or is there carryover?

I would go for the Forstner Komfit. Just like them:

Good point, haven't checked... hold the line.

Tell her you’d like to spend the money on a nice dinner for the two of you instead. And watch your budget increase…

Or tell her since you only have $175 to spend you are just going to go to the strip bar instead.

Or just be honest: tell her this meager budgeting has left you in such desperation that you've taken to soliciting marital/financial advice from a bunch of yahoos on a watch forum. If she'd just loosen her grip a mite, you could spend that time more productively, gazing at your newly-purchased Speedmaster Chrono Chime. (And I'm pretty sure if you nabbed one of those, your AD would throw in a Connie for her, so it's win-win.)

a bunch of yahoos on a watch forum.

Is there really any need for this? Personally, I think of myself as a jerkoff.

Don't disparage yourself like that friend... you'll always be a jag-off to me.

Jerkoffs are a dime a dozen, you & me -- we are special.
