Hello ! My dad always preserved his Seamaster but did not keep any paper related to it.
I would presume it dates back to late 50s or 60s.

I don’t even know wether it is full gold or only plated.

Any hint would be welcome.

Many thanks,

There was a lot of dial variations (with this ref.). Try to google via model and try to find exact match (or same dial).

Being a front loader it’s not as easy to check the model number.

As mentioned above, several dial variations for this model / type.
Case is shared with a dual signed Seamaster Deville and a Deville.

IMO, don't even bother trying to find the exact match. Most references had many dial variations and you won't always find them on the internet and it's not important. Your watch looks totally legit and very nice. Some day, if you decide you want to use the watch regularly, you may decide to have the movement serviced and you can have the watchmaker take photos of the inside.

I suppose it's ref.14765 SC in gold.
I think you’re quite close but the dials are not exactly the same…

Have any of you heard of the possibility to swap the steel / gold back of such models for a cristal one in order to see the movement ? Any référence ?

The picture is a bit fuzzy, but I wonder if we can see the eagle head stamp on back of the watch underneath the Seamaster logo. If it is an Eagle head, it would indicate that it is a French made case.

There are aftermarket case backs that some people get. You would just want to make sure it fits well, and don't throw the original away.

This watch has a monocoque case, meaning there is no case back. It looks like this:

Here is a thread with some info:

As I understand it, during certain periods in the previous century, some watch companies exported movements and dials to France without their gold case. Instead the gold cases were manufactured locally by French casemakers. I'm not entirely clear on the reason, but it must have been something to do with gold and import tax. The cases made by French makers were often slightly different, and as far as I know did not carry the case reference a Swiss case would have. The French cases I've seen have been very well made. However, from a collector's perspective, French cases are not as desirable/valuable as Swiss cases (even though they may be less common).
