Hi everyone,

I'm quite new to the forum but I've been reading some of you for a bit. Thanks for sharing your passion, everyone.
I'm looking into buying my first Omega watch and I understand that either counterfeits or redialed watches are present in the market.
Since it's my very first investment as a wedding gift, I don't want to get that one wrong and ask for your help.
See the photos from someone that seem the sell multiples watches and coins online. I'm yet to confirm with that person whether he's selling the watch through a dedicated company but it seems like he has the equipments and has some knowledge.

  • ref. 14393-61 SC, calibre 561
  • serviced in October 2026 apparently

Thanks for your input!

Here’s a few things I can tell you:

1. Watch dates from around 1962.

2. Dial looks original, but should be off-white, not yellowed. This is likely natural aging of lacquer in the presence of some environmental factor. Maybe nicotine from cigarette smoke. Some people like it, some don’t.

3. Crown is incorrect. It should be 10-sided like that one, but much thinner.

4. The case has been pretty heavily polished. You can see the sharp edges of the watch have been rounded. You can also see the remnant of pitting on the back. Whoever did this either covered up the gold medallion or had it replaced. That looks nicer than the rest of the case.

All this adds up to a very presentable vintage Omega which is not worth top dollar.

Thank you so much! It's currently being listed at 2500€. Would that meet the conditions for being a top dollar watch?

Find below a similar watch that I've found, for 100€ less. Would you be able to help me out with this one as well? Thanks again! This one is sold by a professional, it seems.

How about this one at 1500€?
Apparently it's 100% original, a pro is selling it - just got off the phone with him.
He couldn't provide me the Accuracy and Amplitude although he mentioned that they have been serviced. I can also insist on getting the info if this is important to know?

severe water damage at some point......and the pix are manipulated to mask that damage and discoloration....plus wrong crown completely.

Wow. Never thought it'd be so difficult, but glad I'm getting your input.
How about the 1st or 2nd. What would be considered as a good or normal price?

Welcome @Feng7
Wanting a pie pan is an admirable endeavour but you also need to decide on your threshold for condition.
You also need to decide on the style of Constellation that you are after and focus your efforts on that.
The first two watches you show are late lyre lug models ( both quite heavily polished) and the third a very heavily polished dogleg reference.
The dial degradation on the 2nd and 3rd make them particularly unattractive.

Plus overpolishing.

Just to give you an idea of how hard it is to find a nice, unadulterated example of a pie-pan, it took me 7 years to find one that was good condition with an original dial and unpolished case. They are hard to find.

Hi Feng7,
I was in your position just a few month ago, and as frustrating as it might be, you must be careful with this crazy world if you want to pay the correct price for the correct watch.
As the very experienced guys mentioned, it is worth doing some reading from the threads here.
But as you say this is for a wedding gift and might be tight on schedule and not very attached to a specific model or configuration, I can suggest you to look at the watches that are recommended here by the community. Maybe you'll find one that you like! But if a pie pan with cross hair comes up, leave it to me haha

Pie pans in good original condition are hard to find these days, especially since the Vietnamese have mastered re-dialing them. I have seen some scary good re-dials from Vietnam.

The hour and minute hands are also wrong on the first one, being too long.
