Hi there, I'm new to the forum and would appreciate any help you could offer. I have been given the opportunity to purchase the watch shown in the photo from a friend of the family. I have been told it was purchased in 1966. Does it look original and do you have any idea of a fair value. The original strap is not included. Thanks in advance.
The Bezel is post 1970 and that is all I can say lol. I am sure the speedieistas can give more info, but your really going to need show the case back and first digits of the serial number on the movement if you want really detailed information.
It looks like it was probably a 105.003 thats been serviced, in that it lost its original dial, hands, bezel, and most likely crown and pushers. That's a huge amount of the value of the watch wiped out.
Thanks for your help. Do you think it still has any value? I really like the look of the watch and would love to own it but don't want to waste my money on something that is not correct.
I think it's not a good idea to buy this watch. If you like Speedy's look here and learn ...... Speedmaster101 | How To Buy An Omega Speedmaster or buy this book. here
I don't understand your comment. The watch is obviously incorrect in a number of ways. It may have some value, but only a modest fraction of what the watch would bring if it was correct. But if you don't want something that is not correct (your words), then is there anything further to discuss?
Thanks for the advice. I think I'll probably give it a miss although I will try and get a movement and case back shot and post it next week if I can. Thanks guys.
