Found this guy in a box of grandpa’s stuff.
Had that vintage look that I had been looking for so I’d like to start wearing it.
It has some issues, runs for about 10 seconds and then stops.
Did a little bit of research on it, but not really a watch guy so I still can’t tell much.
Is it original? I’ve heard of these watchco clones. Is it worth anything?
I was going to make an appointment at my local boutique, but wanted to get some kind of opinion before I spend the time/money.
Thanks in advance.

Yes. It's not a Watchco. It's quite a sought after original.

Don't do that. If it goes to Omega they will make it look like new, thus all originality and value will be trashed and you'll end up with the equivalent of a Watchco (in value and desirability).

Find an independet watchmaker with an Omega parts account, they will be able to service the movement and do a sympathetic restoration without destroying the value that the watch holds (which is considerable.

If you let us know your location some of our members may be able to recommend a watchmaker.

I appreciate the response. Glad I checked here before doing anything.
I’m in Southern California, situated between OC and Palm Springs area. I’m sure there are some good places around here to bring it to. Would love to know if anyone has a watchmaker out here that they’d recommend.

Heck of a watch to find in a drawer.

I’m in the LA area and if you send me a DM, I can recommend a few watch makers depending on the city you live in.

The bezel is most probably a repro. Other components look ok.
