    hello everyone,

Was wondering if I could get some help identifying this reference? I took it to a local watchmaker to open it so as to check the movement but he quoted me almost the price of a service since the case is to be opened from the front.
    Thanks all!

He obviously didn't want to do it and I feel for him. It is a can of worms. Old crystal, reflector ring, 2 piece stem........chances are that something will go wrong. At least he knew that it is a top loader and didn't start digging at the back with a knife ;)

My guess is 166.002 or 6610 if it is a US cased model.

The hook S and lack of De Ville on the dial indicate earlier manufacture. Probably early 60s cal 560.

Does it have a quickset date function? The 560 does not. So that could give you a hint. Otherwise it could be 563 or 565.

Nope, no quickset as far as I can tell. Thanks for that! By the way I notice although the watch is keeping time on my wrist, once I leave it overnight it seems to stop. Would a regular service do the trick or I am looking at something nastier ?
Thanks for your help in advance!

Needs a full regular service from a reputable watchmaker that will have it like new.
Most will be happy to take photos of the movement and case back that will reveal all as to model, movement and year..

No easy to guess what's wrong with so many small parts.

Nice watch that deserves the service for years worth of hassle free running

I would also put my money on 14770 or maybe on 14730 :) and date it to early 60's and movement is most likely 562.

Very nice. Does it need a crystal removal to open it or is there a ring around the plexi?
