Hi everyone, long-time lurker, first-time poster here.

I’ve been looking into the Seamaster 120m Automatic (ref. 2501.21) and came across a version that has a caseback I’ve never seen before. Instead of the usual Seamaster markings, this one says:

"Olympic Timing Special Edition"

It has the usual wave pattern and Seahorse logo.

From what I understand, the 2501.21 typically has a standard caseback, so I’m curious if anyone here knows more about this version. Was this part of a regional release?

The watch appears to have an automatic movement and everything else seems correct for a 2501.21 -- white wave dial, applied indices, correct bracelet, etc. Appreciate any insight you might have. Thanks!

Personally, I don’t think a watch without a chronograph would be used to time anything at the Olympics.
