I was hopefull based on the case and surviving dial, somone could take a stab at identifying this watch. I imagine it is from the thirties. It was recovered from an excavated WW2 RAF crash site. Thanks for any help. https://omegaforums.net/threads/ww2-raf-watch-identification-help-please.136116/#post-1848874
A one off bump (very long shot I guess) I might get access to this again later in the month / will see what is on the back if I can.
@Omegafanman I for one hope you get access as with some closer access it might be possible to ID the watch. Stating the obvious, please also get clean dial side up shot. Longshot, but check in-between lug too. if you don't get physical or close access. Then you could try mount a filter caller "circular polariser". This would enable you to remove reflection or at very least reduce glare on shots through display cases. Same is true for video - i included this one because it covers screens and covers. https://www.jessops.com/accessories/lens-accessories/filters/-/circular-polariser https://www.amazon.co.uk/photo-studio-polarizing-filters/b?ie=UTF8&node=332182031 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polarizing_filter_(photography) In fact you you could use black cloth velvet to produce a tube. just like this product for free. diy project - with collapsable dog bowl ok this turned into a photoshoot sorry but though it would be helpful if not now but for future projects. All the best Pat
So I did get some more photos (the display case is sealed so no back view possible). I dont know if it is my imagination but I think there is still some text / letters on the dial (not just the numerals) - would be great if somone could ID the brand (this is a real long shot I know). .
Last three letters appear to be "LET", but I don't think it's a NICOLET or a GALLET. Edit: Or maybe "LEY"? Something like "S****LEY".
Yes LEY looks very possible - very frustrating trying to peel back the mists of time, so near and yet so far on this one. I thought a LET might be possible as well.
I think the Tank watch ID is solved thanks to Dave the mod at the MWR site. Bentley looks to be the winner and a nice brand name for a young WW2 aircrew man to select…. https://omegaforums.net/threads/ww2-raf-watch-identification-help-please.136116/page-3#post-2032155
